OUR STORY

Dedication and Service

Our story started as undergraduates at the College of Saint Elizabeth, where service was instilled in us and became an essential pillar in our collegiate career. As members of the Black Union Student, we served as liaison between the students of the African diaspora and other groups of students on campus. We strived to empower, educate and celebrate the Black experience by hosting various events. That is where our love for collaboration and cooperation was planted . And that seed of service and teamwork was nourished and blossomed into our new flower: The Change Agents of New Jersey.

Our organization was founded in April 2023 by Safiyyah Odom, a social worker who strives to be a positive change in both her personal and professional life.

It is incredible how one small idea can grow into something truly special. Change Agents NJ is rooted in the belief that we all have an inherent responsibility to make a meaningful difference in our community. With a variety of active projects and a large volunteer staff, we harness our skills and resources to successfully achieve our goals.

I strive to help others and practice the definition of being the change you wish to see in the world. In the year of 2023 my friends, family, and I chose to serve our NJ communities by providing food, clothing, toiletries etc. This has brought me such joy and humbleness to see our efforts make a difference! Being affected by homelessness can happen to any one of us. You never know what can happen in this lifetime. Be kind to others, bless another individual if you are given the chance, be the change you wish to see! Change Agents NJ mission is to serve our community with pride and gratitude. They will always be a part of who we are!
